Explore Reisa National Park by riverboat
The guided tour starts at 10am from Saraelv at the end of the road in the Reisa Valley. The only way to get further into the valley is by riverboat or on foot. We take you aboard an authentic riverboat for a three-hour scenic trip up the Reisa River to Imo Waterfall. Discover Reisa National Park, its steep mountain slopes, lush green forest and wildlife. The further into the canyon we go, the wilder the nature gets. Along the way, we will get a close-up view of Mollisfossen, a mighty 269 m waterfall, as well as 4,000-year-old rock paintings. Your local guide will share interesting stories about the area.
Hike to see Imo waterfall
After the boat trip, it’s time to start our one-hour hike to Imo waterfall. The hike is mostly moderate level on a well-marked path and in partly rugged terrain (children from age 7 will manage fine). We arrive at a lookout where you get a good view of Imofossen plunging down the mountain cliffs into a gorge. The Imo waterfall marks the end of the wild salmon’s journey upstream, so keep an eye out for it!
On the way back, we will serve you some coffee or tea at the campfire. Bring some food to grill on the fire, or you can pre-order both cold and hot food from us*.
Owing to the remote location, this nature area is unspoilt and visited by few people. If you are looking for a tour off the beaten track, we highly recommend this!
We provide life jackets and ponchos. Please check the weather forecast and dress accordingly but remember the weather can change quickly.
*Optional lunch can be ordered in advance (NOK 300 per person): locally produced lunch pack composed of wraps with smoked reindeer meat, lingonberry cream and lettuce; biscuits and cheese, wild berries, chocolate, cakes, rhubarb juice and coffee or tea.
