Perspektivet Folkeparken Open-Air Museum
Visit the Folkeparken Open-Air Museum in a beautiful setting at the south end of the Tromsø island.
The museum is open every Sunday during the summer season (from June 23rd to August 25th), from noon until 4 pm. In the big boathouse you can Explore the exhibition “In Cod we Trust” In Stornaustet, the big boathouse. Built around two big fishing boats that are typical for Northern Norway, the exhibition highlights the many contributions of women in preparation for the big fishing season in the Lofoten Islands, boat-building, and international export of stockfish and clipfish.
In the main house, which comes from the trading center of Kvitnes on Vannøya, you can visitor the permanent exhibitions «Lovely beings» and «Tassled Parlour». Buy ice cream and coffee in the Stabbur Kiosk and play simple and fun games outside. Here, you will also find a mural designed by Walls of Women. The open-air museum is not fenced in and can be visited outside of opening hours. A voice-guided tour of the area is available via QR codes that can be downloaded for free on your own phone.
