Northern Norway art museum

Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum is an art museum that makes space for ideas.
Through art, we give a multitude of perspectives on North, life and the people inhabiting this landscape. In our galleries you can experience art from the Norwegian masters like Munch and Tidemand, contemporary stars like David Hockney and OC Jenssen, and everything in between. We also focus on contemporary Northern and Sámi art and craft. We regularly present new, contemporary exhibitions of both Norwegian and international art, in addition to works from our own collection.

We want our visitors to be co-creators of our exhibitions. We do not want to present turnkey understandings but inspire to wonder, new interpretations and participation. We strive to always have “make stations” for visitor participation.
The museum café is only open on weekends, but we serve coffee, tea and biscuits at all times. In our Maker Space, everyone can make their own art and craft, drawing, painting, weaving and much more. We also have a redesigned shop focusing on upcoming and Sami designers, with gifts, books, jewellery, and other design items.

The entire museum is accessible to the disabled. Children are very welcome and can freely use our Maker Space.
