Denne turen utføres av Tromsø Outdoor. What better way to snowshoe in Tromsø than by combining it with one of the top things to do in Tromsø? Starting with a cable car ride to Fjellheisen, with its spectacular panoramic views, our guide will take you snowshoeing into the wilderness. With changing views of the city, the fjords, and surrounding mountains, it's hard to believe it's so close to the city. Each snowshoe trip is tailored to the group's fitness level, experience and current weather conditions.

After a short transfer from the city, we take the cable car to the lookout 420m above Tromsø city. After helping you fit the snowshoes and a short briefing, our guide will lead you on a 2-hour journey in the area surrounding the local mountain, Fløya. The route travels over a variety of uphill and downhill terrain. This snowshoeing tour is suitable for anyone with an average level of fitness(The tour is not suitable for guests with a heart condition or limited physical abilities.)

 Throughout the journey, our guide will tell you about the local nature, culture, and what life is like above the Arctic Circle. 

The tour finishes with a refueling stop with coffee and cake at the Fjellheisen Cafe, where the amazing views continue. You will then return by cable car to sea level and travel back to the city, with plenty of time to relax before chasing the northern lights.  

The weather in North Norway can change rapidly and suitable clothing is a must. In the winter months, you will want to wear layered clothing - a wool base layer, followed by a fleece and a wind and waterproof jacket and trousers. Ski clothing is a good example. Winter or hiking boots are a must, as are a warm hat and a buff or scarf. Having a small backpack with a warm jacket and additional water in a thermos is recommended. Winter clothing and boots are available for rent from our rental center. Please let us know before the tour if you would like to book these. 

From mid-February onward the sun can be surprisingly strong, especially because of the reflecting snow, so we recommend you also bring sunglasses and sunscreen with you.


Included: Snowshoes, poles, cable car ticket (both ways), hot drink and cake on the cable car station, hot drink on tour, guide and transfer (10 minutes each way).

Please bring: Warm clothes, and winter boots (higher than the ankle).
